Funding applications can be tricky. While some are straight forward, more often than not there are a lot of boxes to tick. The process often includes:
- determining eligibility and competitiveness of concept;
- identifying technical requirements and prerequisites;
- developing a scope and workplan;
- seeking quotes and balancing the budget;
- deciphering cost share and stacking abilities;
- facilitating partnerships and communication amongst stakeholders;
- managing forms, spreadsheets and documents;
- writing a clear, compelling narrative and answering specific questions;
- triple checking that all requirements and timelines are met.
All of this takes time, and often there is a deadline to work to. Knowing when and where to invest effort could make the difference between approval and rejection, especially when targeting funding programs that are highly competitive.
The Fundamental Inc. team has developed a knack for writing proposals and funding applications. Since 2018, we have secured $21.9 million in funding from both Provincial and Federal sources for a variety of local climate action projects – from energy efficiency retrofits and vehicle electrification projects to food security initiatives and watershed modelling. As of May 2024, 73% of the funding applications that we have prepared have been approved. We are very proud of this track record.
We have helped clients successfully receive money from the Federation of Canadian Municipalities’ Green Municipal Fund, Agriculture and Agrifoods Canada, Infrastructure Canada, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, and many Government of NL Departments.
