Fundamental Inc. worked with the Village of Arcadia to develop Community and Municipal Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Inventories, establishing a baseline of local energy use and emissions and identifying key opportunities for reductions. The project included a community engagement and education strategy designed to make the inventory results accessible and relevant to residents.

Fundamental also provided support for updating and further developing Arcadia’s Community Energy and Emissions Plan. Emission and cost reduction estimates associated with potential projects were quantified were reasonable, including a high-level assessment of rooftop solar PV potential on municipal facilities, municipal fleet electrification, and solid waste and wastewater initiatives. Fundamental provided a simple and practical framework for organization and tracking of the plan.

The community engagement component of the project included the development of a public survey,  educational materials and infographics explaining Arcadia’s GHG results, and a curated collection of resources to support climate action at household and business levels.

This work supported Arcadia in tracking emissions, prioritizing actions, improving data collection and decision-making, and increasing public understanding of local energy use and emissions.
