Fundamental Inc. has prepared four funding applications for the Town of Channel-Port Aux Basques (CPAB) related to energy efficiency and fuel switching retrofits at two municipal facilities – the regional arena/recreation facility and a fire station. The Climate Change Challenge Fund was a provincial and federal cost share program, and the Green and Inclusive Community Buildings Fund was federal. All four of these applications were successful, securing over $5.6 million in funding for the Town.

Preparing these applications involved building energy modelling, climate vulnerability assessment, technical analysis, cost estimating, workplan/schedule development, and proposal writing. Fundamental Inc. has also been providing construction project management services for these projects.

These energy retrofit projects are part of the Town of CPAB’s Local Climate Action Plan, developed by Fundamental Inc. via the Transition 2050 project. By switching from furnace oil-based heating systems to electric, incorporating waste heat recovery, and improving the building envelopes, these projects are expected to reduce the Town’s greenhouse gas emissions and operational costs.
