Fundamental Inc. was engaged by the Town of Pasadena to assist with their application to the Housing Accelerator Fund, offered by the Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC). Upon funding being awarded, Fundamental then managed the delivery of the proposed suite of initiatives, aimed at increasing housing diversity, supply and affordability across the municipality.

Fundamental Inc. developed two grant programs to encourage denser, more varied, and more affordable housing options in the Town: a Secondary Suite Grant Program for homeowners and an Affordable and Missing Middle Housing Grant Program for developers. A public survey was developed to assess local housing needs.

Fundamental also undertook a review of the Town’s development regulations, conducted best practice research, and proposed amendments to modernize the Town’s regulatory framework and better accommodate housing growth. To help unlock underused land for housing development, we investigated and drafted policy options and released an Expression of Interest to private landowners.

Fundamental Inc. managed correspondence with CMHC including the regular reporting requirements of the program, and continually engaged with the Town to ensure the budget and timelines of the funding agreement stayed on track.
