St. John’s International Airport Authority – GHG Inventories & Action Planning

Fundamental Inc. has been working with the St. John’s International Airport Authority (SJIAA) since 2017. SJIAA is committed to reducing the environmental impact of their operations by taking concrete steps. Fundamental Inc. has helped to identify those steps and guide SJIAA along the way.

SJIAA is targeting Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA). This is an airport-specific certification for carbon management that requires greenhouse gas (GHG) quantification and climate action planning. Fundamental Inc. has been assisting SJIAA by calculating and tracking emissions in accordance with ISO standards, working through the GHG verification process for ACA accreditation, and identifying and assessing carbon-reduction opportunities including on-site renewable energy generation potential.

In 2024, Fundamental Inc. helped SJIAA to secure funding through the Government of NL’s Green Transition Fund to continue this work.
