Location: Bogota, Colombia
Deliverable: course curriculum
Key Features: design tools, sustainability calculations

The Sustainable Course Curriculum was developed for the Colombian Green Building Council and has been designed to provide attendants with an opportunity to learn about sustainable principles, design techniques, and environmental decision making. The goal is to build a high level of proficiency within the development professions so that after having attended these sessions the individuals can think, speak and implement sustainability in all aspects of design and construction. The structure of the seminars will not only be presentations of case studies or high level principles, but will teach a set of skills that will be practiced in a workshop setting. Designers will gain tools, rules of thumb, and straightforward calculation methods for implementing low impact designs. Business people will gain management, project financing and procurement tools.

The courses have been structured such that the focus of each course is directed at specific professional groups, however there are generous areas of overlap as outlined in each course description. The three main professional groups are defined loosely as a) architecture, building science and related engineering and construction; b) urban planning,

landscape architecture and related engineering and construction, and c) project management, business development, cost consulting.
